The genus Bufo embraces about 250 species, and is represented in nearly every part of the world except the Australian region (with the exception of the introduced Cane Toad, Bufo marinus), Madagascar, and nearly all other isolated islands."
According to the article found here, Cane Tode is Bufo marinus
is native to Central and South America and widely exported in the 1930s to control sugar cane beetles. Also called marine toad. But this alian did not only control sugar cane beetles, it ate anything that moves and smaller than itself(local lizzards, amphibians, small mammals). No Australian predators dare to touch it because of its deadly poison. only a few birds learned to attack the cane tode from the belly where there is no poison glands and one of the native frog species manage to eat the tadpols and small live cane tode wothout being affected by the poison. This probably explains why the infeatation of cane tode is slower than expected in a certain part of Nortern Territory.

I didn't watch UBC in ages but I know a bit about this nasty species while I was in Australia. In Biology class.
