Actually, checkdam have been done for long long time by Northern locals, good example in Chiangdao at Ping R., they made from rocks and logs combined with slope at downstream side and uplevel of water as farming area needs. Water is running through alltime in dry season, so many hillstream fishes as Homaloptera, Schistura and Balitora inhabits at slope. Fish reserve zone also designated by locals at that point. When flooding come, fishes going up and down as it have to do, naturally. Unfortunately, many of such that checkdams was demolished and rebuild as cement/permanent watergate or dams, so perpetuately block the River and no more fishes now. If the projeck do more homeworks on fish ecology and local contexts, then made it more practical design, it will be much useful to local and habitats.
